Trades Helper I – Manufacturing Support

About the role

The Trades Helper I supports welding, fitting, machining and painting operations in a metal‑fabrication environment, ensuring parts are prepared for the painting/shipping department while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist welders, fitters, machine operators, painters, sandblasters and mechanics with material handling, abrasive cleaning, sweeping and washing.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, keep welding equipment and supplies orderly, and report any equipment or safety issues promptly.
• Follow ISO9000 procedures, complete required records, and participate in continuous‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Experience or familiarity with metal‑fabrication shop operations.
• Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, bend and lift moderate to heavy steel parts regularly.
• Good vision, hearing and tactile perception for effective communication and safety.

Required skills

• Welding assistance and metal cleaning techniques.
• Use of safety equipment and adherence to ISO9000 quality standards.
• Basic knowledge of shop tools, abrasive cleaning and material handling.
