Testing, Inspection & Certification Wire Rope Technician

About the role

Motive Offshore Group, which combines equipment rental, manufacturing and Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) services, is looking for a Wire Rope Technician for offshore work in Houston, Texas. The role involves onshore and offshore patterns, including on-site inspection services, load testing of client assets and product change-outs such as crane wires and umbilicals. It is a variable-hours position based on a set contract.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections and tasks including wire rope management, EMAG, LOLER inspections and NDT (MPI, ECT, LPI and UT)
• Carry out client asset load testing and support product removal and change-outs
• Commission equipment at the worksite, complete load tests and paperwork, and mobilise, operate and demobilise spooling equipment
• Troubleshoot equipment issues onshore and offshore and work in the workshop occasionally to support moves
• Complete onsite paperwork, including daily client service record sheets, and hand in project paperwork and expenses after the project
• Follow HSEQ procedures, report accidents, incidents and near misses, and take part in sustainability initiatives

Required profile

• Offshore certification
• Experience operating machinery, wire rope change-out and spooling services
• LEEA certification
• MRT (EMAG) training and experience
• NDT certification (SNT or PCN Level II); in-house training can be provided
• Full, valid driving licence

Required skills

• Good communication, prioritisation, problem-solving and attention to detail
• Preferred: mechanical and hydraulic experience, basic knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Good IT and reporting skills
