Tender / Quotation Specialist

About the role

This Tender / Quotation Specialist position sits within the Automation, Marine and Ports, Navy and Coast Guard segment and reports to the VP of the Navy & Coast Guard segment. The hybrid role involves creating bids, estimates and quotations from customer specifications, requirements or budgets so that proposals are competitive and meet the expected margin. It is based in Houston.

Key responsibilities

• Create bids, estimates and quotations that balance market competitiveness with the expected margin, with full and accurate costs.
• Calculate a budget value for the sales team or customer to gauge investment willingness.
• Prepare technical and commercial documentation, such as the most suitable technology and products, and financial documents such as total price sheets and cash flow analyses.
• Indicate prices and trading conditions.
• Collaborate with sales teams and engage with customers when needed.
• Ensure bid, estimate and quotation planning inputs are delivered on time and follow quality procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field and 8 years of experience, or a Technical Associate's degree and 10 years in project management, project engineering or proposals.
• Experience reading and responding to US Government (Navy/USCG) RFQs, with a record of successful submissions.
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Required skills

• Strong electrical systems capability with marine applications.
• Ability to understand and size electrical equipment according to customer requirements.
