Team Lead - Transmission Engineering

About the role

Atwell, LLC, a consulting, engineering and construction firm serving real estate, land development and energy markets, is hiring a Team Lead for its Transmission group. You will manage teams of engineers, drafters, designers and technicians and ensure transmission engineering scopes are completed accurately, on time and to a high standard. The position is open to local/in-office candidates in Lakewood, CO and full-time remote candidates, with a salary range of $100,000-$165,000 per year based on the Denver market.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee project planning, scheduling and coordination for small to large projects
• Assign work and coordinate with engineers, designers and administrative staff
• Provide technical assistance and training for junior engineers
• Perform and manage detailed design of overhead transmission lines and distribution lines
• Review the work of engineers, designers, drafters and field service personnel for quality and accuracy
• Manage team member development through individualized development plans
• Produce and review full design packages, including drawings, pole and structure details, foundation designs and calculation packages
• Prepare cost estimates, budget reports, proposals and studies, and support business development and client relations
• Attend conferences, training and safety training, and follow all safety rules

Required profile

• BSCE or BSCET from an accredited institution; civil/structural or mechanical option preferred
• 5+ years of engineering or relevant field experience
• FE or PE licensure required
• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Strong written and verbal English
• Ability to lift 25 lbs; typical travel of 5-15%

Required skills

• Expert use of PLS-CADD; optimum spotter and finite spotter knowledge a plus
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Nice to have: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and structural analysis knowledge (steel, wood, concrete)
