Tax Manager (Hybrid/Remote)

About the role

Selden Fox, a mid-sized public accounting and advisory firm headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, is looking for a Tax Manager to work remotely or hybrid in Chicago. The role leads sophisticated tax engagements and provides strategic tax planning for high-net-worth individuals, S-corporations, real estate partnerships and privately held companies, covering technical delivery, client relationships and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and review complex federal and state tax returns, including individual (1040), S-Corp, partnership and trust returns.
• Provide high-level tax planning and consulting to clients, especially closely held businesses and HNWIs.
• Research complex tax matters and give clear, actionable guidance.
• Act as a primary point of contact for client relationships and manage IRS and state tax authority correspondence and resolution.
• Mentor and supervise junior tax staff, supporting their training and performance growth.
• Collaborate with audit and advisory teams and identify opportunities for tax planning and business development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; a Master's in Taxation is a plus.
• CPA or EA designation required.
• 7+ years of progressive tax experience, including at least 2-3 years in a managerial or review role.
• Experience with real estate entities and investment partnerships highly preferred.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of tax compliance and planning for S-Corps, partnerships and HNWIs.
• Proficiency with tax software such as CCH ProSystem fx, Engagement and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, project leadership and team development abilities.
