Portfolio Associate / Senior Portfolio Associate

About the role

PIMCO, a global leader in active fixed income investing, is hiring a Portfolio Associate (or Senior Portfolio Associate) to support its Portfolio Managers. The team monitors portfolios, helps rebalance risks and provides operational support, working with Account Managers, Product Managers, Legal and Compliance, Operations and other Portfolio Associate teams across the firm's global offices.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure portfolio positioning is aligned with investment objectives and client mandates, monitoring positions and products against client guidelines with the Compliance team
• Coordinate with Portfolio Management on portfolio rebalancing and implementation
• Use proprietary risk systems to monitor exposures, risks and performance, and tag trades into risk categories
• Conduct performance, attribution and portfolio risk analyses
• Assist with account transitions, cash flow management and portfolio funding
• Identify and resolve operational issues across the trade lifecycle, and support ad hoc portfolio, trading and operational requests
• Leverage data analytics, automation and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, reporting and decision-making

Required profile

• Strong academic background in a technical field from a leading, accredited college or university; Master's degree plus at least 3 years of work experience preferred
• Good understanding of fixed income, equities and FX workflows, including most cash and derivative instruments
• Experience supporting Equities, EM or multi-asset strategies preferred
• Shift rotation schedules required to cover early mornings and holidays per Equity and FX market needs
• Excellent communication skills in a complex financial environment

Required skills

• Excel power user
• Programming in Python, VBA, SQL or similar preferred
• Data visualization, automation and AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, machine learning, workflow automation) is a plus
• Strong analytical, process-oriented and problem-solving skills
