Systems Administrator 2 – Infrastructure & Sustainment Support

About the role

TAP Engineering is seeking a Systems Administrator 2 to support high‑performance computing (HPC) environments. The role focuses on operating, maintaining, and optimizing Linux and Unix systems that power mission‑critical workloads across multi‑vendor servers and specialized processing clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Unix operating systems.
• Manage file systems, system configurations, software installations, and upgrades.
• Monitor system health, performance, and resource utilization across HPC clusters.
• Troubleshoot OS, application, networking, storage, and infrastructure issues.
• Support TCP/IP and high‑speed HPC networking technologies.
• Develop and maintain Bash scripts to automate administration tasks.
• Compile, install, and maintain software packages within Linux environments.
• Provide day‑to‑day operations support, incident resolution, and capacity planning for servers, storage, and network devices.
• Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting activities.
• Escalate complex issues and communicate status to technical teams and government stakeholders.

Required profile

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Full‑Scope Polygraph (polygraph within the last 7 years).
• DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
• 5 + years of Linux/Unix system administration experience (or 10 + years without a degree).
• B.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
