Hardware Technician

About the role

Omnyon is hiring a full-time Hardware Technician in Annapolis Junction. The technician provides Tier 2 and 3 on-site and remote support for computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals and teleconferencing equipment, and also supports network upgrade projects.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and test workstations, servers, printers, peripherals and teleconferencing equipment
• Install and configure workstations, servers, printers, peripherals and associated cabling
• Maintain government and/or vendor-manufactured fiber optic modems, multiplexers, fiber optic/Ethernet cables and telephone systems
• Conduct site surveys, prepare specifications for hardware acquisitions, installation schedules and drawings, and write installation and test reports
• Train site personnel and build specialized interconnecting cables
• Follow the Connectivity Operations Team's standard operating procedures, including ticketing systems and documentation
• Support end-user connectivity needs and network upgrade projects

Required profile

• High school/GED and 2-4 years of experience, or an associate's degree in a technical field with 2 years of experience, or a bachelor's degree in a technical field
• One of the following certifications before starting the contract: A+ CE, NET+ CE or SSCP
• Able to drive a company vehicle and work an 8-hour shift between 6am and 6pm

Required skills

• Expertise in installing, repairing and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals
• Windows 7 and 10, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics, and to work with end users remotely

• Salary range of $60k-$100k, depending on experience, skills, clearance level, contract type and market conditions
