Survey Crew Chief

About the role

Atwell, a consulting, engineering and construction firm serving real estate, land development and energy markets, is hiring a Survey Crew Chief. The role leads field operations for land development projects, from residential and commercial sites to mixed-use communities and renewable energy projects, with autonomy, technology and support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead boundary, topographic, construction layout and as-built surveys for land development projects
• Operate Trimble total stations, GPS and data collectors to capture reliable data
• Double-check field calculations and establish vertical and horizontal control points
• Record detailed field notes and prepare accurate as-built documentation
• Maintain equipment and vehicle, and work independently or guide a team member
• Solve on-site challenges, interpret plans and communicate with contractors and engineers
• Follow safety protocols and quality standards, and take part in paid training and career-pathing programs

Required profile

• Experience as a Survey Crew Chief
• Proven expertise in construction staking, ALTA/NSPS land title, topographic, boundary and as-built surveys
• Strong communication with contractors, inspectors and team leaders
• Proactive problem-solving and willingness to travel overnight occasionally (preferred)

Required skills

• Trimble equipment experience preferred
