Surgical Technologist – OB/Nursery

About the role

The Surgical Technologist works in the Labor & Delivery operating room, supporting surgeons, anesthesia staff, and patients before, during, and after surgical procedures such as C‑sections. The role combines sterile technique, instrument management, and basic patient care duties.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with C‑section surgeries, anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
• Set up, clean, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment in a sterile manner.
• Coordinate inventory with Sterile Processing and restock supplies.
• Answer unit phones, check on patients, perform nursing aide tasks, and document patient information.
• Clean and stock the C/S suite, OB/Nursery equipment, delivery rooms, cribs, and nursery areas.
• Provide postpartum care, including K‑pads, ice packs, and binder application.
• Collect specimens, record vital signs, and communicate patient condition changes to staff.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing, Practical Nursing, or Surgical Technologist program, or CNA with cross‑training as a scrub‑tech.
• Three years of scrub experience preferred; surgical technologist or surgical nurse experience desired but not required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required; CST certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lb, stand, walk, and perform frequent physical movements.

Required skills
