Surgical Technician – Per Diem, Day Shift

About the role

The Surgical Technician joins the operating room team at Lehigh Valley Health Network, supporting surgeons by maintaining a sterile field and handling instruments during procedures. This per‑diem, day‑shift position offers the chance to work in a nationally recognized health system.

Key responsibilities

• Scrub in with the surgical team, anticipate surgeon needs, and manage instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Perform surgical counts, organize case carts, and ensure all equipment functions safely.
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field using aseptic techniques.
• Conduct in‑between case turnover cleaning and assist the circulator in room setup.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or Technical School Diploma in Surgical Technology.
• Less than 1 year of experience; ability to adapt to a fast‑changing healthcare environment.
• Physical ability to lift/carry 40‑50 lb, stand for long periods, and walk 8‑10 miles per shift.
• Basic Life Support certification (BLS) and eligibility for CST or TS‑C certification upon hire.

Required skills

• Knowledge of medical and surgical supplies and sterile techniques.
• Proficiency in surgical instrument handling and equipment setup.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Tech in Surgery (TS‑C) certification.
