Supply Chain Buyer

About the role

AMAX, a supplier of GPU-accelerated IT infrastructure, is hiring a Supply Chain Buyer in Fremont. The buyer manages lead times, purchases, pull-in and rescheduling of shipments according to customer forecasts and project needs, sources and negotiates goods, and takes part in sourcing strategy, supplier contracts and cost-reduction programs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage lead time, purchases, pull-ins and rescheduling of shipments based on customer forecast and project requirements.
• Source, negotiate and purchase goods following established policies and procedures, and contribute to sourcing strategy.
• Participate in, review, negotiate and monitor supplier contracts.
• Take part in cost-reduction programs, investigate issues, consult stakeholders, develop recommendations and follow them through.
• Carry out studies on new products or processes, evaluate economic aspects and make recommendations.
• On approved projects, take part in operations planning and layout and follow through during installation.
• Run or join statistical process studies, set up process control and monitor performance.
• Estimate costs and define fabrication methods for special items and special production orders, and update the specials program.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, able to prioritize projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Team player who can carry projects through all phases and communicate verbally and in writing.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel with VLOOKUPs, PivotTables and formulas.
• Six Sigma and/or Lean experience preferred but not required.
