Summer 2027 Intern, National Tax

About the role

Ryan is looking for interns interested in state, local, federal and international taxation. You will work side by side with subject matter experts in a team-based environment to identify tax savings opportunities for Fortune 500 and 1,000 clients, with training and development to become seasoned tax professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide exceptional client service to multi-state companies by identifying tax savings opportunities
• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies, including preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing them at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests
• Research and draft technical memoranda on state and local tax questions or issues
• Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities
• Review documentation and research issues
• Work with raw data to complete detailed calculations

Required profile

• Working toward a JD, with anticipated graduation within one year of the internship
• Overall and major GPA of 2.8 or higher
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, with strong problem-solving, attention to detail and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize, handle multiple assignments and manage ambiguity
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and internet research
• Valid driver's license; no supervisory responsibilities
