U.S. Tax Manager - Insurance and Reinsurance

About the role

PwC is hiring a Manager in its U.S. Tax team to lead complex compliance and advisory engagements for insurance and reinsurance clients. The role combines deep technical knowledge of U.S. tax with strong client leadership, overseeing work from planning through completion and acting as the day-to-day contact for clients on compliance, tax accounting and cross-border matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of U.S. federal income tax returns for insurance and reinsurance companies, including Form 1120-PC and Schedule M-3 reconciliations.
• Oversee ASC 740 income tax provision work and advise clients on tax accounting matters.
• Apply knowledge of Subchapter L of the Internal Revenue Code, including loss reserve discounting under Section 846, unearned premium reserves, captive insurance taxation and reinsurance arrangements.
• Advise clients on U.S. tax compliance, tax accounting and cross-border insurance and reinsurance structures, and identify state and local tax obligations.
• Own engagement planning, budgeting, execution, quality and timely delivery, managing multiple engagements in a fast-paced environment.
• Delegate and oversee workstreams, review work product, give timely feedback and coach team members.
• Build client relationships, manage expectations and partner with team leadership on quality and timelines.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in tax with an international accounting firm, international law firm or similar, specializing in partnership and/or corporate tax.
• Either a U.S. CPA, admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction, or an equivalent U.S. tax certification such as Enrolled Agent; candidates without CPA or EA but with the required tax experience (US tax experience preferred) will be considered.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%, availability for work visa sponsorship, and government clearance.
