Multi-Dealership Automotive Controller

About the role

Cardinale Automotive Group, a multi-dealership automotive dealer group with over 40 years of history, is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller for its Mountain View location. The role oversees the accounting and financial operations of a fast-paced, multi-brand dealership. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, hands-on leader with extensive dealership accounting experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and manage and supervise the accounting office, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance.
• Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements and reports, and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, bank reconciliations and general ledger activity.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in line with company policies and manufacturer requirements, and ensure compliance with accounting regulations and internal controls.
• Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement, and work with dealership management on financial planning.
• Train and develop accounting staff.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of automotive dealership accounting experience, including office management or supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of dealership accounting procedures, financial reporting and general ledger management.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume dealership environment.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field; experience with multiple brands or dealerships; experience implementing paperless accounting processes.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Preferred: Reynolds & Reynolds Dealer Management System (DMS); Microsoft Office and other accounting software.
