Associate Director, Client Finance

About the role

Horizon Media, a marketing and advertising firm founded in 1989 and headquartered in New York City, is looking for an Associate Director, Client Finance. The role owns the client financial life cycle (billing, reconciliation, receivables and payables) across a portfolio of clients, reporting to the Director, Client Finance & Operations. It is hands-on and facilitative, combining analysis, team management and project management, with an active internal and client-facing presence.

Key responsibilities

• Oversight (40%): oversee the order-to-cash cycle, review managers' and senior managers' work, review client finance KPIs and deadlines, and oversee billing and fee setup in media systems
• Monitor AR and AP performance and proactively address discrepancies; review burn reports and coordinate commentary with the Brand Strategy Team
• Leadership and management (40%): manage and mentor Managers and/or Senior Managers, act as the primary escalation point, and take part in monthly client finance and Managing Partner status calls
• Innovation (20%): drive process improvements, champion best practices and encourage teams to find efficiencies

Required profile

• 7+ years of client finance experience, preferably in the media industry
• 3+ years in a leadership capacity
• BS/BA degree in Finance or a related field
• Strong communication, detail-oriented, organized, and an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion

Required skills

• Media billing and operations experience preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles
• Proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of SBMS/Spectra OX is a plus
