Substitute Teacher – Early Education (Part‑time/PRN)

About the role

The Substitute Teacher supports early‑education classrooms across YMCA locations, delivering age‑appropriate curriculum, ensuring safety, and fostering a warm, inclusive environment for young children.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize child safety and maintain a family‑friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
• Model YMCA core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.
• Use positive behavior‑guidance methods and supervise children during transitions.
• Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom design, supplies, and assessments.
• Deliver a balanced curriculum that supports social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.
• Communicate daily with parents/guardians and complete required documentation.
• Participate in required training hours and adhere to YMCA policies.

Required profile

• Working towards Early Education & Care (EEC) certification.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Skills in working with families, conflict resolution, and public relations.
• Knowledge of group processes and ability to collaborate with staff.
• Commitment to YMCA philosophy and goals.
• Effective leadership, crisis‑management, and organizational abilities.
