Pre‑K Lead Teacher – Longwood Medical Area

About the role

The YMCA seeks a Pre‑K Lead Teacher for its Longwood Medical Area site. Reporting to the Site Director, you will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that supports children’s socio‑emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize children’s safety and emotional well‑being, using positive behavior‑guidance methods.
• Plan and deliver age‑appropriate curriculum aligned with Massachusetts guidelines and research‑based outcomes.
• Maintain accurate children’s records, assess progress, and communicate regularly with families.
• Supervise classroom materials, ensure a clean, attractive space, and support smooth transitions.
• Participate in at least 20 hours of training per year and attend staff meetings and YMCA events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (required) and qualification by the Department of Early Education and Care standards.
• First Aid and CPR certification within six months of hire.
• Excellent communication, conflict‑resolution, and community‑relation skills.
• Commitment to YMCA’s philosophy, youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
