Preschool Lead Teacher – Longwood Medical Area

About the role

The YMCA seeks a dedicated Preschool Lead Teacher for its Longwood Medical Area site. Reporting to the Site Director, you will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize children’s safety and emotional well‑being, using positive behavior guidance.
• Supervise children, manage classroom transitions, and maintain a clean, well‑stocked learning environment.
• Plan and implement curriculum aligned with Massachusetts Early Education and Care guidelines.
• Assess children’s progress, communicate regularly with families, and keep accurate records.
• Collaborate with the Site Director on program needs, staff training (minimum 20 hours/year), and community events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Lead Teacher qualification per Department of Early Education and Care standards.
• First Aid and CPR certification within six months of hire.
• Strong communication, conflict‑resolution, and community‑relation skills.
• Commitment to YMCA philosophy, youth development, and social responsibility.

Required skills

• First Aid certification.
• CPR certification.
