Substance Abuse Counselor – Youth Residential Program

About the role

PsyPhyCare is seeking a licensed Substance Abuse Counselor to join a federally supported residential youth program in Dayton, Ohio. The position is contract‑based, part‑time (up to 20 hours per week), and focuses on delivering on‑site prevention, education, and counseling services to young adults aged 16‑24.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling for substance abuse prevention and treatment.
• Develop and facilitate alcohol, drug, and tobacco education programs.
• Engage with students throughout residential spaces, including dormitories, dining, and recreation areas.
• Collaborate with program leadership and interdisciplinary staff to support student development and relapse prevention.
• Deliver crisis intervention and behavioral support as needed.
• Create individualized case‑management plans and maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA.

Required profile

• Active and valid Substance Abuse Counseling certification (LICDC) allowing independent practice in Ohio.
• Minimum of one year of experience providing substance‑abuse or behavioral‑health services to adolescents or young adults.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred).
