Submarine Communications Systems Technician

About the role

The Submarine Technical Support Center (STSC) in Groton, CT is looking for an experienced technician to join its team supporting the U.S. Navy's Submarine Force Warfighting Capability. The role provides technical services including troubleshooting, testing, operation, repair and overhaul, maintenance oversight, installation and training for 688 and 774 class submarine systems and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical services for fleet support of 688 and 774 class submarine systems and equipment
• Work with a team of dedicated personnel in troubleshooting, testing, operation, repair and overhaul, maintenance oversight, installation and training
• Support systems such as DAMA/MINI DAMA, DMR, HF/UHF secure and non-secure voice, satellite terminals, antenna systems, tactical networks, TFDS, CSRR components, and periscope and photonics systems

Required profile

• Six years of full-time engineering experience operating, maintaining, installing, testing or repairing combat systems and weapons handling equipment on submarines
• Eight years of full-time technical experience in mechanical, electrical, electronic systems and equipment
• Active US Government Top Secret clearance and ability to maintain it (US citizenship required)
• Experience on Los Angeles and Virginia class submarines, and on CSRR components
• In-depth knowledge of fleet maintenance practices and CSRR policy and procedures
• Preferred: leading chief petty officer tour on a Virginia class platform and advanced Navy technical training

Required skills

• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software applications
• Preventive and corrective maintenance of CSRR components
