Hardware Technician

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Hardware Technician for a Space Force Range contract. The role covers electrical, mechanical and RF troubleshooting, equipment repair and calibration, and support of test operations and communications equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical and RF troubleshooting to identify equipment problems
• Dismantle, adjust, repair, calibrate, align, assemble and operate equipment
• Manage property inventory, supply parts and tools, and quality assurance
• Work with the Depot Property Manager to calibrate Eastern Range test equipment
• Maintain station logs, documentation and records
• Operate timing equipment, compare time with the US Naval Observatory atomic clock (TWSTT), distribute IRIG time codes and use GPS receivers
• Support routine test operations, checkouts and modifications in a Tech Control environment
• Operate and maintain TMS-3000 multiplexors, Orion DRCS, AUTODIN, ATM networking equipment and various KG devices
• Train in Ascension Communications and help train other employees

Required profile

• AS degree in Electronic Technology, or two-year technical school, equivalent military experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2 years of communications operations and maintenance experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, including U.S. citizenship
• Valid U.S. driver's license and U.S. passport (or ability to obtain one)

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
• Test and diagnostic equipment: Firebird digital test set, network analyzers, multimeters, oscilloscopes
• Troubleshooting of electronic equipment and systems
• Preferred: military satellite communications equipment, Tech Control, data transmission systems, digital switching, patch panels, audio amplifiers and signal conditioning equipment
• Preferred: U.S. Air Force Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS)
