Senior Unified Communications Engineer

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Senior Unified Communications Engineer to support a program delivering integrated voice, video and data services across the IT lifecycle. The engineer works independently or in a team, adapts quickly to new problems and learns fast how to run the front and back ends of new products and processes. The schedule is 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement unified communications solutions focused on scalability, security and performance
• Install and configure VoIP, video conferencing, instant messaging and collaborative platforms
• Monitor and maintain the UC infrastructure, applying security patches and keeping it stable
• Integrate UC systems with network infrastructure, Active Directory and cloud services
• Implement security protocols and protect communication channels, data and endpoints
• Support end users, troubleshoot issues and provide training
• Maintain documentation, work with vendors and suppliers, and create disaster recovery plans

Required profile

• Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI, or the ability to acquire it; minimum high school diploma
• At least 8 years of telecommunications experience installing, administering and upgrading Cisco Unified Collaboration appliances and troubleshooting converged networks
• Ability to deploy and maintain server-based and router-based dial plans, and to work overtime during critical peaks
• Willingness to travel 5-10%, mainly within 75 miles

Required skills

• Cisco Unified Communications Manager, IM & Presence, Expressway, Video Teleconferencing Systems and Session Border Controller
• Knowledge of Cisco call flows and SIP signaling, and of firewalls, ACLs, simple network monitoring and dot1x
• Experience with ESXi virtualization and familiarity with DoD STIGs
• Configuring Cisco routers as VoIP gateways and Cisco IOS 12.X/15.X commands
• Troubleshooting end-to-end voice and video issues on IP and ISDN networks
• Familiarity with MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project and Visio
• CCNA certification and one of the listed IAT Level II or III baseline certifications by start date; CCNP preferred
