Studies & Plans Team Technician (Engineering Technician III)

About the role

The Department of Transportation in Springfield, Illinois is hiring three Engineering Technician III positions in its Studies & Plans team. The role is accountable for preparing corridor, design and combined studies, and for preparing contract plans and specifications for highway improvement projects. It is a salaried, full-time union position with an anticipated hybrid schedule of 1 to 5 days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the engineering sections for corridor, design and combined location studies accurately and on time.
• Prepare and recommend alternative designs for location studies.
• Review location studies prepared by consultants and other agencies for completeness according to policy and procedures.
• Assist with informational meetings, public hearings and presentations describing projects.
• Ensure plans are accurate, complete, compliant with design standards and specifications, and represent the most cost-effective design.
• Coordinate the activities of other sections so plans are finished by prescribed dates.
• Perform duties safely and in line with departmental safety rules, and treat all employees fairly.

Required profile

• Completion of two years of college (the text is cut off).

• Bilingual skills are welcome.
