Structural Engineer, EIT (Forensic Engineering Consultant)

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Structural Engineer, EIT (Engineer in Training) in Sacramento, California, as part of its Forensic Engineering Consultant role. The consultant conducts forensic investigations, including failure analysis, evidence examination and report writing, to support the evaluation of failures, insurance claims and legal matters. The role also supports licensed engineers and expert teams, contributes to sales and industry events, and takes part in ongoing technical training.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations (failure analysis, interviews, evidence examinations and testing, research) and author engineering reports on failures, insurance claims and legal matters.
• Support licensed engineers and the local office on forensic investigations.
• Build expertise in specific engineering disciplines and assist expert and sales teams with sales, growth and industry events.
• Write, review and co-author reports, research and protocols.
• Attend and present internal technical training in areas of expertise.
• Travel as required and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of experience in structural engineering, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Ability to meet or exceed performance competencies.
• Physical requirements: standing or walking for long periods, kneeling, squatting or bending, working outdoors in hot or cold weather, climbing, crawling, stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds; hearing, vision and speech.

• PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products.

• Ability to write comprehensive, accurate and constructive reports.

• Starting pay range of $90,000 - $105,000 for the jurisdiction listed in the posting.
