Strategic Finance Manager – UHealth

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth system is seeking a full‑time Manager to lead the Finance – Central function. This role coordinates daily financial activities, ensures compliance with governmental regulations, and mentors staff on financial matters.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee budget preparation and monitor department performance against budget.
• Prepare and monitor staffing benchmarks.
• Translate long‑range strategy into executable business cases and financial plans.
• Assist with economic evaluation of new programs and equipment.
• Perform trend analyses and volume projections.
• Evaluate spending trends and develop compliance strategies.
• Drive strategic direction and long‑term investment processes.
• Form and maintain effective cross‑organizational partnerships.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and file quarterly payroll tax returns.
• Establish and assess internal controls, ensuring staff training on policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum five years of relevant finance experience.
• Operational management expertise to optimize day‑to‑day processes.
• Organizational development skills for improving effectiveness and managing change.
• Strong financial oversight knowledge.
• Team‑leadership ability to build a cohesive, productive environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
