Stewarding Supervisor

About the role

Loews New Orleans Hotel, located in the Warehouse District of New Orleans, is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Stewarding Supervisor to lead the stewarding team. The supervisor ensures the highest standards of cleanliness, organization and safety across all back-of-house areas, oversees dishwashing operations, manages equipment and supply inventories and keeps kitchen operations running smoothly to support culinary and food and beverage teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the stewarding team, assign tasks and cover responsibilities throughout each shift
• Monitor team performance, provide hands-on training, coaching and feedback
• Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and kitchen equipment
• Keep dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment running efficiently and report malfunctions for repair
• Coordinate cleaning of kitchen areas, storage spaces and back-of-house areas
• Enforce safety procedures and hygiene protocols, and monitor compliance with health department regulations on food safety and sanitation
• Assist with inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals and equipment, and oversee safe storage of chemicals
• Work with banquet, culinary and outlet teams to ensure equipment is ready for events, and support event setup, breakdown and equipment return
• Step in to manage day-to-day floor operations when the Executive Steward or Assistant Executive Steward is absent, and attend BEO meetings as needed
• Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings, and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a mid-volume stewarding operation in an upscale hotel or restaurant, preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently
• Time management, multitasking and prioritization skills
• Physical ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods and operate cleaning equipment
