Steward

About the role

Loews Chicago Hotel, located near Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile, is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Steward to keep its kitchen and back-of-house areas clean and organized. The Steward ensures dishes, glassware, silverware and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned, sanitized and ready for service, working closely with culinary, banquet and outlet teams.

Key responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils and glassware, and operate dishwashing machines and do manual cleaning when needed.
• Organize and store cleaned items in their designated areas.
• Keep kitchen floors, walls, counters and equipment spotless.
• Support culinary, banquet and outlet teams by organizing equipment and supplies.
• Deliver clean plates, utensils and other essentials to kitchen or service areas promptly.
• Collect and dispose of trash, recycling and food waste, and sanitize trash bins.
• Monitor cleaning supply inventory and restock as needed.
• Report broken or malfunctioning equipment to the Executive Steward or Stewarding Supervisor.
• Use cleaning chemicals safely, follow health and sanitation guidelines and hotel policies, and take part in safety training and team meetings.

Required profile

• Previous experience in kitchen, cleaning or hospitality work is preferred.
• Ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Regular attendance and completion of mandatory training sessions.
