Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician

About the role

UnitedHealth Group is hiring a sterile compounding pharmacy technician in Roseville, Minnesota, at its Optum pharmacy site (2685 Patton Rd.). The position is scheduled Monday through Friday on an 8-hour shift between 8am and 5pm. The pay ranges from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour for full-time employment, and a $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered to external applicants only.

Key responsibilities

• Perform sterile compounding according to company policy and regulations, including USP 797 and USP 800
• Maintain competency in sterile compounding
• Take part in medication management for compounding, including ordering, receiving and maintaining medications and supplies
• Troubleshoot equipment, hardware and software issues related to compounding
• Complete and document cleaning and monitoring activities for sterile compounding areas, including daily, weekly and monthly cleaning
• Work as a team to triage and respond promptly to all compounding needs
• Keep up with ongoing didactic and practical training in sterile compounding

Required profile

• Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in Minnesota
• 1+ year of consistent sterile compounding experience
• Willingness to work the stated schedule at the Roseville location
• Preferred: Certified Compounded Sterile Preparations Technician (CSPT) certification and PTCB certification
• Preferred: ability to work independently to solve high-stakes problems

Required skills

• Knowledge of sterile compounding standards (USP 797, USP 800)
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours with intermittent breaks
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and climb stairs and ladders
