Part-Time MRI Technologist

About the role

Akumin, a provider of outpatient radiology and oncology services, is hiring a part-time MRI Technologist for its Grant facility. The technologist is responsible for patient safety and the performance of high-quality MR studies, on site and/or remotely, and must communicate effectively with radiologists, team members, patients and customers, especially in a mobile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety, including pre-screening for contraindications and aseptic injection technique; remote MR Technologist Assistant oversight may be required.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images; operation of multiple MR systems may be required.
• Communicate with customers and radiologists and address concerns, problems and conflicts using all available channels.
• Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators and MR Technologist Assistants, on site and/or remotely.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT as allowable by contract in lieu of ARRT; state license where applicable.
• CPR certification and a valid state driver's license.
• Technologists registered in other modalities need either 3 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience or enrollment in an accredited MRI training program for more than 6 months; MR-registered technologists (RT(MR) or ARMRIT) need no experience.
• Ability to work at several locations and local travel may be required.
• The COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
• Preferred: Associate's degree or equivalent experience, ARRT magnetic resonance registry, and 1 year of MRI experience.
