Staff Software Engineer - Referrals & Conversions (Remote)

About the role

Rula is a remote‑first mental health company seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Partnerships Referrals & Conversions team. You will design and evolve systems that manage patient referrals, partner data, and booking experiences, directly impacting how partners refer patients and how patients receive care.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable referral pathways and patient‑centric booking experiences.
• Lead technical decisions, shape project scope, and align engineering work with business goals.
• Mentor engineers, unblock peers, and raise the technical bar across the organization.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep understanding of modern application architecture, API design, security, performance, and scaling.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects across teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Fluency with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code).
• Experience with modern infrastructure, distributed systems, and event‑based paradigms.
• Ability to design and evolve system architectures, weighing trade‑offs.
• Experience integrating with third‑party services.
