Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Farther is a rapidly growing RIA combining expert advisors with technology to deliver a tailored wealth management experience. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a technical leader who drives architecture decisions, tackles complex challenges and guides other engineers while staying hands-on. The role offers significant autonomy: you own major architectural decisions, set engineering standards and are accountable for technical outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Drive technical architecture decisions and lead the design and implementation of large-scale systems spanning frontend and backend
• Establish engineering standards and best practices across the organization
• Champion adoption of AI tools across engineering teams to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
• Tackle complex challenges in system design, scalability, reliability and performance
• Mentor engineers and guide them through complex technical decisions
• Drive technical excellence through code reviews, architecture reviews and documentation

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience across the full stack
• Fluency with AI coding tools and a desire to share that knowledge
• Thrives with high autonomy and owns major architectural decisions
• Track record of impactful technical decisions and mentoring engineers
• Clear communicator, builder mentality and tenacity

Bonus points

• Experience building financial services, trading or wealth management platforms
• High-availability system design and real-time data processing
• Event-driven architectures and knowledge of financial regulatory requirements
