Staff Software Engineer

About the role

REGENT is scaling its innovative Seaglider vehicles from prototype to full production. As a Staff Software Engineer you will set the technical direction for avionics software across vehicle programs, ensuring architecture, standards, and certification are reusable and robust.

Key responsibilities

• Define software architecture patterns, engineering standards, and certification approaches for current and future vehicle programs.
• Own the avionics software architecture, including partitioning, redundancy, inter‑subsystem interfaces, and timing budgets.
• Partner with integrated product teams and chief engineers on architecture compliance, interface control, and design reviews.
• Lead the software certification strategy, manage staged reviews with authorities, and serve as the program’s software certification lead.
• Design, implement, and verify flight‑critical software modules while mentoring senior engineers.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with safety‑critical avionics and full‑lifecycle RTCA DO‑178C (DAL A/B) processes.
• Proven track record delivering vehicle‑level architecture for aircraft, eVTOL, or UAS programs and leading certification efforts.
• Strong systems engineering background, including requirements decomposition, hazard analysis, and interface control.

Required skills

• Embedded C/C++ development on RTOS or bare‑metal platforms.
• Deterministic avionics networking (ARINC 664/AFDX, TTP, CAN, DDS or equivalents).
• Partitioned, redundancy‑managed system design, WCET analysis, and health‑management.
• Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink and Embedded Coder (optional but beneficial).
