Staff Engineer, Platform & Systems

About the role

Retell AI is building a modern CX platform powered by voice AI. As a Staff Engineer you will own the technical direction of the core platform, working across systems, infrastructure, and product surfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the core platform and systems architecture.
• Lead complex technical initiatives from concept to production, making high‑leverage decisions on speed, reliability, and scale.
• Raise the technical bar through design reviews, mentoring, and hands‑on leadership.
• Partner with product to translate business needs into robust technical solutions and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability bottlenecks.

Required profile

• 9+ years building and operating production systems.
• Experience at Staff or Principal level (or equivalent scope).
• Strong systems design skills with clear trade‑off reasoning.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and maintain correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
