Compliance Engineer (Contract)

About the role

Retell AI is seeking a hands‑on Compliance Engineer on a contract basis to design, build, and own technical controls that keep the platform secure and compliant for enterprise customers. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Security, Legal, and customer‑facing teams to translate compliance frameworks into practical, automated solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain technical controls for frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and other enterprise requirements.
• Automate compliance workflows, evidence collection, access reviews, and security checks.
• Partner with Engineering and Security to implement controls around access management, infrastructure, data protection, logging, and vulnerability management.
• Support audit readiness by collecting technical evidence and liaising with auditors.
• Respond to customer security questionnaires, compliance requirements, and technical due‑diligence requests.
• Identify gaps in compliance and security programs and develop scalable systems to address them.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in software engineering, security, infrastructure, or IT.
• Interest in compliance and ability to turn security frameworks into technical solutions.
• Analytical mindset with experience solving ambiguous problems.
• Effective communicator who can explain technical and compliance concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Bash.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and security/compliance tools (Vanta, Drata, Wiz, Okta).
• Understanding of security fundamentals including IAM, encryption, networking, logging, vulnerability management, and cloud security.
