Staff Accountant - Financial Operations

About the role

Join New Orleans Restoration Properties as a Staff Accountant – Financial Operations, responsible for the day‑to‑day financial activities of a mission‑driven real‑estate development firm. You will work under the direct mentorship of a Fractional CFO, gaining hands‑on experience in accounting, compliance, and strategic finance with a clear pathway toward a future Controller position.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate month‑end close.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and real‑estate development finance analysis.
• Identify and implement technology‑driven process improvements and automation.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related financial experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Growth mindset with ambition to advance to a Controller‑level role.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of GAAP principles.
• Experience with general ledger accounting.
• Comfort learning and using ERP/accounting software.
