Speech-Language Pathologist (Home Health)

About the role

Medical Centers HomeCare, a part of LHC Group and a member of the Optum family, is hiring a full-time Speech Therapist in home health in Albertville, Alabama. The therapist assesses and evaluates patient care needs related to speech and language disorders, functional training in communication, swallowing and cognitive impairments, helps set up a treatment plan, carries out interventions and evaluates patient progress. The position is open to external candidates only.

Key responsibilities

• Provide services within the scope of practice defined by state law, in line with the plan of care and in coordination with the health care team
• Evaluate the patient's level of function using diagnostic and prognostic functional ability tests and assist the physician in developing the therapy plan of care
• Treat patients so they can communicate effectively, using acceptable standards of practice
• Observe, record and report to the supervising nurse and/or physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers and other team members in areas of speech therapy in which they can participate

Required profile

• Licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of Alabama
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation
• Able to work a weekend rotation

What we offer

• $5,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates only
• Hourly pay of $35.00 to $62.50 for full-time employment, depending on factors such as education, experience and certifications
