Spectrum Communications Team Lead

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Spectrum Communications Team Lead for the JETSII contract with Intuitive Machines, working alongside NASA at Johnson Space Center. The role leads the spectrum team, coordinates spectrum management and RF link performance, and represents JSC with other NASA centers, federal agencies and commercial partners. It is an onsite position.

Key responsibilities

• Perform spectrum management and coordination for RF systems and resolve spectrum issues with NASA centers and federal agencies
• Determine RF link performance and create link budgets using analytical methods or simulation tools
• Perform RF interference and compatibility analysis for space-based communication systems
• Analyze and document data reduction results for customer presentations
• Schedule tasks, assign them to spectrum engineers and coordinate with the Project Manager
• Foster strong customer relationships and lead the prioritization of tasks for the Spectrum team

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering or physical sciences preferred); 10 years of experience with a BS, 8 years with an MS, or 5 years with a PhD, or less if core competencies are demonstrated
• Completed college-level RF communications coursework
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident (3 years) who can complete a U.S. government background investigation
• Onsite at Johnson Space Center

Required skills

• Knowledge of digital communications, RF system analysis, FEC coding and space communications
• Phase modulation, spread spectrum, signal detection, interference analysis, baseband filtering
• NTIA spectrum approval process, spectrum sharing and interference analysis
• Matlab/Simulink, STK or similar orbital and RF modeling software
• Preferred: C/C++ and Python
