Special Procedures Technologist – Interventional Radiology

About the role

The Special Procedures Technologist supports physicians in the Radiology Department at Akron General Medical Center, performing interventional radiology procedures and ensuring high‑quality diagnostic imaging.

Key responsibilities

• Perform radiologic exams as directed, obtaining appropriate views for accurate diagnosis.
• Prepare patients, maintain sterile fields, and monitor vital signs before procedures.
• Manage supplies, enter data into the Radiology Information System and PACS, and ensure radiation and bloodborne pathogen safety.
• Supervise and provide feedback to radiology students, reviewing images and completing quarterly evaluations.

Required profile

• Graduation from an approved School of Radiologic Technology program.
• Ohio Radiologic Technologist license and ARRT registration.
• ARRT certification in Cardiovascular Technology within two years of hire.
• Three years of diagnostic technologist experience or one year in special procedures (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
• Knowledge of radiation safety and bloodborne pathogen precautions.
• Ability to prepare sterile fields and assess patient pulse.
