Special Needs Caregiver – Companion/Buddy

About the role

Join the Kauai Habilitation Team as a Companion/Buddy to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving greater independence within the community.

Key responsibilities

• Build long‑lasting one‑on‑one relationships and spend time on clients’ favorite hobbies, such as Special Olympics.
• Assist clients with budgeting, socializing, shopping, using public transportation, and exercise to promote independence.
• Ensure client safety and well‑being both at home and in the community.
• Provide attentive, dignified support tailored to each individual’s needs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
• Passion for helping individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Patience, empathy, and dedication to fostering independence.
