Special Education Teacher (K-12) – Olean City School District

About the role

The Olean City School District is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to support K-12 students with diverse learning needs. The role focuses on delivering instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and individualized education plans (IEPs). Successful candidates will foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic and behavioral growth.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instruction to assigned special education classes in accordance with schedule and location.
• Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and demonstrate preparedness upon supervisor request.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media tailored to student abilities and resources.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress regularly, maintaining accurate records as required by law and district policy.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and parents to ensure IEP goals are met.
• Uphold school rules, Board of Education policies, and maintain confidentiality.
• Make reasonable availability for students and parents outside instructional hours when needed.

Required profile

• Qualifications as set by New York State for Special Education teachers.
• Additional qualifications as determined by the Board of Education.
• Ability to report to the Director of Special Education and Building Principal.
• Commitment to student-centered instruction and collaborative teamwork.
