Sparrow General Manager

About the role

The Dalmar & Element Hotel in downtown Fort Lauderdale is looking for an energetic, professional Sparrow General Manager to lead the Sparrow Rooftop Bar team. The role is hands-on, focused on daily operations, staff development, guest satisfaction and brand standards, with hours that vary according to business needs because the hotel operates 24/7.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily event oversight together with the hotel's General Manager and the Director of Food & Beverage, and help maximize profitability with a target margin of 20%
• Establish and monitor financial controls, handle deposits and payroll, and run strategies to grow year-over-year sales
• Audit food, beverage and service offerings, build relationships with preferred patrons and maintain community relations
• Send nightly reports, respond to action items, and report emergencies, accidents, safety hazards and policy deviations to management
• Supervise order taking, delivery, guest checks, payments and floor staff, ensuring quality control and compliance with policies and regulations
• Hold a weekly operations meeting, schedule the team around peaks and valleys, and make sure tip outs are done nightly
• Train and motivate staff, keep them informed, and handle guest requests and complaints

Required profile

• Two- or four-year college degree in Business or Hospitality Management preferred, or five or more years of related hospitality experience
• Ability to supervise staff, manage daily operations and solve operational problems
• Ability to interview, hire, schedule, train and address staff performance
• Knowledge of hotel facilities and services, and attention to detail and organization

Required skills

• Food and beverage ordering, handling, transportation and service
• Compliance with federal, state and local serving guidelines
• Computer, phone and office equipment
• Familiarity with the Aloha POS system and payroll processes preferred
