Café Manager - W8th NYC

About the role

Stumptown, a coffee company that sources, roasts, packages and serves coffee, is hiring a Café Manager for its W8th NYC location. The manager leads the day-to-day operation of the café, sets a clear vision for team performance and guest experience, builds and develops a talented team, and works closely with the retail leadership team and other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily operations and set a clear vision and pace for the café
• Build, train and develop a high-performing team with a culture of learning and accountability
• Create an exceptional guest experience and represent Stumptown's values to guests and the community
• Manage financial performance, including inventory, labor efficiency and monetary transactions
• Maintain cleanliness, safety and equipment, and oversee product quality through training, quality control and tasting
• Hold regular team meetings and one-on-one coaching, and stay current on product knowledge and industry trends
• Collaborate with Retail Leadership and other departments, and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Proven leadership skills, strong professionalism and ability to create an inclusive, collaborative team
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to coach, mentor and manage multiple priorities under pressure
• Receptive to feedback with a continuous improvement mindset
• 2 years of supervisory experience in hospitality strongly preferred

Physical demands

• Stand and move throughout the café during shifts
• Lift and carry up to 5 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
• Reach, bend and stoop, and operate espresso equipment and clean
