Software Engineer - Technical Team Lead

About the role

CACI is hiring a Software Engineer - Technical Team Lead for its Mission Intelligence (MI) team in Annapolis Junction. The MI team runs a business intelligence platform used for enterprise-wide, data-driven decision making, and the lead ensures its reliability, availability and quality. The role also contributes as a system engineer, software engineer and analytic developer, designing and integrating solutions that analyze large data sets to deliver mission-centric insights. The position is full time, regular, with up to 10% local travel, and requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Key responsibilities

• Develop analytics to combine, normalize and enrich large data sets.
• Design and implement ETL workflows to convert and normalize data.
• Augment the platform with new tools or technologies.
• Gather stakeholder requirements, assess available data and develop solutions for key metrics.
• Break tasks into actionable steps, remove technical obstacles and manage expectations.
• Define and communicate task scope through documentation and tracking systems.
• Enable site reliability engineering practices on the operational platform.
• Mentor and guide junior software engineers and data scientists.
• Produce project management materials such as agendas, meeting notes and design decision records.

Required profile

• Active TS/SCI with polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management or a related field, or 16 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• 20 years of experience as a Lead Systems Engineer on programs of similar scope, type and complexity, with proven experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
• Experience leading technical teams and effective collaboration across diverse backgrounds.

Required skills

• Strong Java development skills.
• Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and deployment.
• Git for version control and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
• Familiarity with customer authentication and authorization platforms and standards.
• Site reliability engineering (SRE) principles and agile, continuous delivery environments.
• Desired: Apache NiFi, hands-on test case automation, and experience with mission-focused customers.
