Software Engineer, Network Infrastructure

About the role

Render is building a modern cloud platform for developers and needs a senior engineer to own and evolve its core network infrastructure across multiple data centers and cloud providers.

Key responsibilities

• Own Render's core network infrastructure, shaping its evolution as the company scales.
• Design and build customer‑facing networking capabilities for flexible service connectivity and traffic routing.
• Investigate complex networking issues from kernel to edge, driving performance and reliability improvements.
• Partner with engineers across the organization to ensure a stable, predictable, and secure platform.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and improve incident detection and response processes.

Required profile

• At least 6 years of experience building and operating large‑scale networking or infrastructure systems.
• Strong background in designing, debugging, and operating distributed systems.
• Proven ability to plan and execute high‑risk changes with minimal downtime.

Required skills

• Kubernetes networking internals (e.g., kube‑proxy, CNI plugins, service routing).
• Linux networking internals (routing, netfilter/iptables/nftables, conntrack) in production.
• Traffic routing systems such as load balancers, ingress, and proxies at scale.
• Experience with Go or similar languages for low‑level OS and networking primitives.
• Nice‑to‑have: eBPF, advanced Linux kernel networking.
