Cabling Technician

About the role

The Cabling Technician will install, repair, and maintain structured cabling systems in compliance with industry standards and the Wisconsin Building Code. This role involves on‑site work across various customer locations and may require travel and on‑call availability.

Key responsibilities

• Install and terminate Category 5e, 6, and 6a copper cables.
• Perform copper cable testing and documentation.
• Terminate cables on 110 & 66 blocks.
• Install, terminate, test, and document fiber optic cables.
• Install sound/paging, access control, security, and video surveillance hardware.
• Operate scissors and articulated (boom) lifts safely.
• Provide subcontracted service work for national companies.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to work independently and respond to customer requests.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, lift heavy equipment, and travel as needed.
• Availability for 24/7 on‑call support.
• Basic mathematics knowledge.

Required skills

• Category 5e/6/6a cable installation and termination.
• Copper cable testing and documentation.
• Fiber optic cable installation, termination, testing, and documentation.
• Installation of sound/paging, access control, security, and video surveillance hardware.
• Operation of scissors lifts and articulated (boom) lifts.
