Lead Cabling Technician

About the role

The Lead Cabling Technician will oversee medium to large cabling projects, ensuring installations meet industry standards and Wisconsin Building Code requirements. This position involves hands‑on work, team leadership, and coordination with customers and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead crews of 3‑8 technicians on medium and large installations.
• Install, terminate, test, and document Category 5e, 6, 6a and fiber optic cables.
• Dress racks, manage wire, install patch panels, 110 & 66 blocks, and external raceways.
• Install and configure sound/paging, access‑control, security, and video‑surveillance hardware.
• Provide support to Level I‑II technicians and perform subcontracted service work.
• Prepare as‑built schematics and maintain vehicle and material records.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Ability to work independently, climb ladders, lift heavy equipment, and operate scissors and boom lifts safely.
• Willingness to travel and be on‑call 24/7 as needed.

Required skills

• Category 5e/6/6a cabling installation and termination.
• Copper cable testing and documentation.
• Fiber optic cable installation, termination, and testing.
• Scissors lift and articulated (boom) lift operation.
• Rack dressing, wire management, and patch‑panel work.
• Installation of access‑control, security, and video‑surveillance hardware.
