Software Engineer – Android Platform (Google Beam)

About the role

Google Beam is redefining human connection with three‑dimensional video technology. As a Software Engineer on the Android Platform team, you will build and enhance the Android experience that powers Beam’s immersive communication solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship Android applications and system components for Beam devices.
• Integrate low‑level peripherals and ensure seamless hardware‑software interaction.
• Implement accessibility standards to make the product inclusive for all users.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve full‑stack challenges across networking, OS concepts, and UI design.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience developing on the Android platform.
• Strong understanding of core operating‑system concepts and networking protocols.
• Proficiency in one or more general‑purpose languages such as Java, C++ or Kotlin.
• Preferred: Master’s/PhD, experience shipping consumer‑electronics, low‑level peripheral configuration, and a solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
