Senior Software Engineer – Go (Golang)

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Go, you will design, develop and deliver high‑performance middleware and application software for GM’s next‑generation in‑vehicle infotainment and connected vehicle platforms. You will work with cross‑functional teams to build scalable, reliable and low‑latency systems that enable advanced user experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services, middleware and platform applications using Go.
• Write clean, maintainable, high‑performance code ensuring scalability, fault tolerance and memory efficiency.
• Build high‑throughput, low‑latency systems and contribute to overall system architecture.
• Own the full defect lifecycle from root‑cause analysis to resolution and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Systems, Integration, Product, Platform and Design teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Lead and participate in design reviews, code reviews and technical discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in coding, testing and design.
• Follow Agile processes including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups and retrospectives, and adhere to GM software development standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Go, including structs, interfaces, channels and goroutines.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, gRPC services and micro‑service architectures.
• Proven ability to design distributed systems and work with CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities and strong communication skills.
