Software Development Engineer

About the role

Televic Rail is looking for an innovative, hands‑on Software Development Engineer to join its North American R&D team in Morrisville, NC. You will help build the next generation of IP‑based onboard communication and passenger information systems for rail networks worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Linux‑based software applications for rail and transportation products.
• Write clean, maintainable code in Java, Python, C++ or Rust, depending on product needs.
• Translate system requirements into technical specifications and software solutions.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and develop software for distributed systems.
• Document software functionality and support the full product lifecycle from concept to production release.
• Troubleshoot software issues in development, testing, and field environments.
• Develop unit, integration, and validation tests; support root‑cause analysis for defects.
• Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, systems, and product engineering teams, as well as international R&D groups.

• Strong software engineering background with experience solving complex technical challenges.
• Comfort working across embedded systems and application layers.
• Focus on reliability, safety, networking, and performance in mission‑critical environments.
• Ability to mentor junior developers when required.
